WELCOME

Welcome to the Gun Owners of California Blog. Our aim is to be a repository of information – a storehouse of intellectual ammunition – from all over California. If it suits our fancy, we will pull stuff in from across the fruited plains as well. We will post GOC commentary, solid, no-nonsense data and articles we think will be of interest to the pro-gun community. There’s no two ways about it, but information is power (ammo) and we want to get as much of it to you as humanly possible. Without question, being “in the know” is what distinguishes us from apathetic Americans who have closed their eyes and ears while our Constitutional rights were being stripped from our homes and our hands.

But have no fear – we won’t be all gloom and doom because we are involved in 2A victories all over the nation and we are eager share those. We have something to learn from those wins – and from the losses we are dealt, too.

There will always be those who think the Golden State is anything but “golden” – we at GOC think differently, though. California is well worth saving, and sharing information is a good step in getting us there.

WHO WE ARE

Gun Owners of California is the oldest pro-gun lobbying organization in the State.  Sound crazy?  Well, it’s the truth.  Our founder, Senator H.L. Richardson, ret., was on the board of the NRA in the 1970’s when he asked them if they would have a problem with him starting a political action committee, to fight for the Second Amendment in the political arena.  He did just that, and shortly thereafter, the NRA started NRA-ILA.

We are 37 years old and still fighting, still growing, and still determined.

We are a non-profit membership organization focused solely on the political arena.  We raise money through membership donations and fundraising events throughout the year.  We lobby at the State Capitol and we keep everything in the state.  We keep our members up-to-date on current legislative attacks on their Second Amendment rights through quarterly newsletters and our website, while lobbying for their rights on a daily basis.

We are committed to being the hardest hitting, most effective, toughest fighting pro-gun organization in the state of California. We have a no-compromise approach when it comes to promoting your gun rights.
